Portland Art Collective: Lovely Ladies

Each year in July, the Portland Art Collective holds their annual potluck in lieu of their monthly meeting. And each year, it is held at Maggie's beautiful historic Portland home, the John Palmer House. I had seen this historic home several years ago, coveting the opportunity to go inside. My wish came true -- I not only got to go inside, I got a personal tour by Maggie. Here's a peek:

(That's me with Maggie standing in the very large tiled shower tucked at one end of the home's former sleeping porch.)

In addition to good food, we exchanged garden art. Everyone made some kind of art for outdoors, our names were tossed into a bag, and names were drawn. Some of the pieces of art up for grabs:

Here are some of the ladies in attendance (and to see more about our annual event, head on over to the PAC blog):

For the exchange, I arted up a simple pot. I added a beaded wire around the lip of a pot, then added pieces of broken china, sea glass, and various found objects. I planted a bright, cheerful sunflower and viola!, instant yard art!
