Spontaneous Intent Clayboard

Saturday was my final class at Artfest and it was a beaut. Led by artist Mary Beth Shaw, the class was inspiring, challenging, and just plain fun. Mary Beth started us off with some good information on color theory and had us play around with palettes of three colors. I chose to futz with Hansa Yellow Light, Phthalo Blue (Green Shade), and Quinacridone Magenta. Here are my results:

Then the fun began. Using Ampersand smooth clayboard, we scritched and scratched, explored Golden's Fiber Paste and Glass Gel Beads, and I even got in some time with a power tool, the dremel. We also experimented with Golden's airbrush paints, blowing it around with straws. From pure white to fantastic color!

Some of the details:

And finally, a photo of the teacher and the student.

I would love to learn more about color theory (in theory)...but mostly I think it would be great to be able to play with such great colors. You made all those different shades from just those three base colors? VERY cool
