Tory Saves the Day

My friend Tory, of Copper Crow Studio, came over last Thursday to give me a very rudimentary and introductory session on how to use Photoshop (Elements 6 in case you were wondering which version). This has been something I've wanted to learn how to do for at least the past year, but I was just too frightened to jump in solo. Tory is a great teacher, very patient and calm, and she made me do it so I really had a hands on lesson!

The very first thing I played around with was an image I took at Fort Worden with Tory when we were at Artfest last March; I superimposed the old metal door with a photo of my doll heads. But of course it had to include some doll heads!

In the next photo we played around using a background photo, again from Fort Worden, then with an overlay of the Virgin Mary taken at a cemetery in the middle of nowhere between Salem and Fort Worden. I futzed with the saturation and hue buttons, also created a shadow image.

All I know for right now is that I am going to need to play around with this a lot to become proficient. But for now I am no longer totally intimidated by the idea of using Photoshop and that is a huge accomplishment.
