Artfest Classes: Brush-Free Zone
I got to take three classes while I was at Artfest and the first two were with Mary Beth Shaw. Thursday's class was titled Painting Without Fear and Mary Beth was masterful at making that happen. There was lots of texture, color, and abstraction, but I'll let my photos speak for themselves.
Day Two was entitled Texture on Texture. We used some of the techniques learned the previous day, but also learned how to add even more texture and I discovered so many new color-making tools that I think my head is going to spin right off my neck!
I got to spend my third day of Artfest with Jesse Reno. I was blown away by Jesse's authenticity and made several discoveries about myself that I might share in a later blog post. For now, here's a glimpse of the day from blank page to my crazy man/cat. It wasn't the finished product that blew me away, it wasn't even the exercises and processes Jesse taught. It was his words and his approach to the process of art-making. I really encourage you to check out his website.

What a great recap. Of course I adore the pieces you made in my class, you superstar!! And your Jesse piece is also wonderful. I think he is a fascinating guy, could listen/watch him all day long. He is wonderful.
Can't wait to see what you do with all this new inspiration.

I miss it all. I took classes with Kathyanne White (printing on alternate surfaces, Lynn Perella's "Foreign Intrigue" and Roxanne padgett's "Go Figure" class. Roxanne's went so fast with so much - it was llike drinking from a fire hose. I saw all three of your instructors' students works at show n'tell. Super, Super.
