Black, White, & Grey: The Show

The reception for the Black, White, and Grey show was held last Saturday night at the Keizer Art Association. It was a fun opening as all of the artists were wearing black, white, and grey! We matched the art on the walls. The only disappointment was that the women who hung the show decided to put someone else's art smack dab in front of my piece (and mine wasn't even worthy of hanging!!??!!), so the glass piece they placed in front of mine completely blocked the lower left corner. Howard was not just disappointed, he was maaaaadddddd, but moved the glass piece to get a couple of complete shots of my art. Ah well.

Note: I wore black, white, and grey to the opening, but my earrings had a teeny, tiny red stone in the middle. I'm such a rebel!

We Can Only Hope to Continue

Black, white, and gray. No color, none whatsoever is allowed. This was a difficult piece for me. I'm not even sure why I entered the show, perhaps as a challenge. The show is an annual event sponsored by the Keizer Art Association and from what I've heard (and saw yesterday when I dropped off my piece), a very popular one. I'm not a black and white person. I'm a fiery red person, a garish orange kind of girl, a bright turquoise spirit. The whole time I was working on my piece I kept thinking where will I add color when I get the art back -- a red ball on top? A dab of turquoise in one of the smaller circles? Maybe Nikel Azo gold in one of the grooves. But then again, maybe not. We Can Only Hope to Continue, that's the name of my piece.

The artist's reception is Saturday, November 7th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and the show will run through the month of November.

Two x Two

In addition to my usual ebb and flow of art projects, I have large four projects I'm currently working on. Two pieces are commissions and two are for upcoming shows. The two annual shows, Black, White and Grey at the Keizer Art Association is slated for November and in December is the Artists in Action Something Red show. Here I am taking advantage of a break in the weather to do some sanding on my limestone clay boards.

Then inside to begin the work.

You can probably figure out which piece goes with which show!

Much more to do, but I'm done for the day.
