Day 3: Steady
Third day, June 1st. Ready to get down to business.
Meanwhile, what else was going on . . . . demos, more good food, a visit from Darlene, and Pat's slide show of her recent work.
Day 4: Pressure
The luxury of expansive time has disappeared. Day four, June 2nd. Three days down, two to go and tomorrow is an abbreviated day due to a group meal and critiques in the afternoon. Time to work and work hard. By the end of the day, my hard work paid off; I finished seven 8x8 pieces and one 24x24.
Meanwhile, what else was going on . . . . Pat and Jason sharing a laugh, demos, bundling, and a visit from Nikki, a Pat Wheeler alum.
Day 5: Tick Tick Tick
Sunday, June 3rd, was our final day and I really felt the pressure of time. We only had the morning because we went for brunch as a group to the campus restaurant, Hands On Cafe. After eating, we started to clean up so that we would be ready for critiques at 2:00. I had finished my seven little boards, so I worked on my remaining three big canvases, but the ticking clock wasn't working for me, so I just putzed with paint, did some bundling, and then cleand up.
Meanwhile, what else was going on . . . . pondering, bundling, painting, sanding, a visit from Stacey, waxing, and finally critiquing.
It was a good week. A very good week. Thank you, Stephanie, for once again being my muse, my critic, my cheerleader, and table mate.

Princess Warrior Wonder Wands
Back in January of this year, I invited three friends to join me in working through Julia Cameron's book, Vein of Gold. The four of us committed wholeheartedly and met weekly for five months. If someone couldn't make it due to a trip or a big event, we just changed the date or cancelled for that week -- no one missed a single group, which reflects huge dedication. Since the first of the year we've met to discuss what we read, share what we learned, laughed and cried over what was going on in our lives, done an art project or two - we basically came alongside each other to support and encourage. In May, we reached the end of the book. For our final meeting, we met at my studio and after checking in with each other, we settled down and made a personal Princess Warrior Wonder Wand.
And what do Princess Warriors do when their wands are complete? They strike a pose, of course!
