Light Orange Heart

My monthly visual journaling group, the Orange Dream Monkeys, met at the studio on Wednesday night. Two ladies couldn't make it, so we were a little smaller than usual, but that didn't stop us from creating a big mess and lots of fun pages.

Treats and gifts were compliments of Dawn (Yoga Dawn, as we have two Dawns in our group -- both do yoga, but Yoga Dawn is a yoga instructor).

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know that we choose our themes by drawing from three jars: a color, a noun, and a concept. Our theme for our May meeting is . . .

The Artist's Way: Discovering a Sense of Connection

Last night was session six of my ten-week Artist's Way group - only four more to go. Sadly, one of our ladies was sick and the other had out of town company (she told me she was discovering her sense of connection in the truest sense). That left three ladies to create a life-size self-portrait. It's a fun project (at least I think so) -- each woman gets a large piece of butcher paper and they strike a pose on the paper; they trace around each other and then using a variety of acrylic paints and brushes, they embellish themselves in any way they wish. Look at their amazing results:

The Artist's Way: Discovering a Sense of Abundance

We were a small group last night as one of the ladies was sick and another had to leave early. However, the three women who were there dove into our creative project with great enthusiasm: making a life plaque out of Paper Clay.

My Own Personal Santos: Part II

On Sunday, a group of us reconvened to finish making our Santos dolls that we had started the week prior. For our Sunday excursion, we all headed to Kitty's magnificent art barn in Helvetia. Pinch me.

Our day was filled with activity - finishing heads, assembling bodies, and finally dressing our ladies.

My lady.

One by one we completed our Santos dolls.

Aren't they lovely?
