My Book is Back

My Altered Board Book has returned to me. The swap was hosted by Destree and started back in February when I first wrote about it. I've been posting the pages I created in the five other books since then, but now I have my very own book back in my possession. The pages created by the other five artists are beautiful. Here they are:

I'm already excited to do this again sometime in the future. Just need someone to step forward to get the ball rolling . . .

Don't Be Ordinary

Round five of the Altered Board Book swap I'm participating in occurred this week and wanting to be early rather than late, I got my pages done quick as a wink. I received Destree's book on Wednesday (she's the coordinator of our swap) and just have to share her amazing cover.

Some peeks at what the other artists in the swap have done on their pages.

Anatomy of my pages . . . texture, collage elements, paint, rubber stamps, pen, and tape.

Some close-ups of my pages.

How the book looked as I prepared to package it up and send it on to Wisconsin.

Let It Go

Round Four of the Altered Board Book swap I'm in. I received Brandon's book today and I was excited to get started.

These are glimpses of the pages done by the previous two artists:

Tucked inside Brandon's book was a little booklet with several quotes he had written out. I chose one to use as my jumping off point for my pages.

A little prep to get the book going . . .

. . . . and I was on my way!

Don't Be Scared

I received Shelby's board book about two weeks ago and today was the deadline for it being arted up and sent along it's way. I wrote about the Round Robin I'm in when I posted Bye Bye Baby Spiderman back on February 12th. In that post, I shared the process for altering a children's board book and showed the results of the covers for my book.

For this round, I created a two-page spread in Shelby's book. Shelby's cover was delicate and pretty, it even had a pink ribbon. My art isn't usually very delicate and not often called pretty, so my color choices clashed a bit with the pink ribbon, but knowing Shelby, she won't mind! Here's Shelby's book and her cover:

And here are my two pages in Shelby's book, showing various views and closeups.

I'll be getting the next book on Wednesday and I'll post my contribution in that book in about two weeks.

Bye Bye Baby Spiderman

I've been invited to participate in a round robin altered book exchange. I've hosted a couple of these, so it is fun to be a participant and not an organizer this time around. There are six of us who are playing and all we had to do was find a children's board book with at least five two-page spreads, sand the glossy pages, prime, and art up the outside covers. Viola! I put my prepared book in the mail yesterday where it will wing it's way to Milwaukie, Wisconsin. Did I mention that this round robin is a national one!! Thanks, Destree, for spearheading this energizing and fun swap.

Which book to use? So many shapes, so many sizes.

I decided upon a smallish one, but I liked the tabs that run along the sides. Sand sand sand.

Prime prime prime.

Some paint, a couple of images, a title, and some words.
