Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

Howard and I are supporting our daughter, Amy, by participating in a fundraising walk (I think the last fundraiser we did was in the 1970s when we rode our bike for 36 miles to oppose nuclear power - "No on 9" was the campaign - that was a long time ago)......but here we go again, thirty some years later.

If you're interested, read on. Here is the letter we have just sent out to many of our friends and family:

The Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) is where our daughter, Amy, works. They are in the midst of their annual fundraising event called Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. For this event, men wear high heels and women wear whatever they want (a nice change, eh?) and we walk a mile in Beaverton around the Beaverton Farmer's Market. This event is to raise awareness about sexual and gender violence and to raise money for the programs offered by SARC. We are walking on a team this year and are hoping you will either join us in walking, sponsor us, or both! The event is Saturday, September 6th.

Sexual violence affects many people's lives and SARC is committed to working towards ending sexual violence and providing services to those who have been assaulted. Any amount of a donation makes a huge impact.

Thank you and we hope to see you there (or that you'll give generously)!

Dayna and Howard Collins

The walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 6th at 10:00 a.m. You can bet I'll be posting photos after the event, but in anticipation, here are a few photos of Howard in his glitter shoes to whet your appetite (I'm not sure how much he'll be smiling after walking in these shoes for a mile!).

Wish we could join you for this event! Is it a yearly thing? Please tell Howard I like his pumps.
