Open Doors Status Update #4: Paper Remnant Journals

I've written about my Paper Remnant Journals in the past, I've even given two away in Giveaways. But I wanted to share that I have made a whole batch to sell at the upcoming Portland Art Collective Open Doors Art Show and Sale on December 3 and 4. I've added some fun dangling tags and stamped the word FODDER on the front since it will be used for, well, fodder! I'll have a completed journal on display at the sale in case you want to see how they can be used to display photos and record memories . . . .

Another Opportunity to Win a Journal

Back in June, I offered one of my Paper Remnant Journals as a thank you for being so supportive of my blog over the past several years and to commemorate my 500th blog post. Well, if you want another opportunity to win one of my ephemera journals, here are the details:

Go to the Portland Art Collective blog (here's a link to make it easy peasy) and leave a comment on that particular post. Around September 1st, one lucky name will be drawn to win the journal. And the other good news? Portland Art Collective members aren't eligible to win, so your odds are greatly increased. If you aren't aware of these monthly drawings, you might want to become a follower of the PAC blog because every month of one of our fabulous artists posts something for the giveaway!

In case you're wondering what you might win for this month's giveaway, here are photos of the journal:

So what are you waiting for. Get yourself over to the PAC blog and leave a comment.

#500! A Giveaway . . .

What better way to celebrate 500 blog posts (yes, FIVE HUNDRED!) than with a giveaway. And for my giveaway I decided I would offer up one of my recently created Paper Remnant Journals. All you have to do is leave a post between now and July 6th (that's when I'll be home to do the drawing and be able to send the journal out). On the 6th, I will randomly pick a name out of a summer straw hat (or figure out how to use the random generator on my blog site) and one lucky person will receive one of my journals. It's my way of saying thank you to my many friends, followers, and blog visitors.

In case you're wondering how you would use such a crazy little journal, I'm using one to record our Waterfront adventure. It is so easy because you can write on the found papers, glue or tape things in, or even add your own new pages! Here are a couple of spreads from mine.

Paper Remnant Journals

A few weeks ago, I spent three days at the Portland Art Collective spring retreat. While I was there, I madly worked at preparing pages for a journal idea I had to make what I've now dubbed Paper Remnant Journals. Last week I completed my first two of these journals (which I plan to sell at the Portland Art Collective annual Open Doors sale in December). The journals are designed so that you can write on the pages, glue in photos, or insert ephemera into little pockets and envelopes.

Assembling the pages:

I'm so excited about the finished journals!
