The Salem Art Collective hit the road on Wednesday for a field trip to Portland. Our mission for the day: explore N and NE Portland. We covered a lot of ground in a pretty short period of time.
Some highlights of our day.
SCRAP
Our first stop of the day was SCRAP, the School and Community Reuse Action Project. Always a treasure hunt with lots of fantastic bargains.
There was a great fiber show going on in SCRAP's Re: Vision Gallery, too.
TITLE WAVE
We had to include a used bookstore on our trip and since Powell's is a trip all by itself, we chose to visit Title Wave.
GUARDINO GALLERY
An art field trip would not be complete without a stop at Guardino Gallery on N.E. Alberta Street. In the main gallery is the work of Jeana Edelman with drawing and painting on wood, and Christopher Wagner, sculpture in wood (and pig gut).
HAIL MARY
An add on to our day was Hail Mary, the shop and studio of Mary Tapogna, a mixed media mosaic artist.
FLUTTER
Last stop on our itinerary: Flutter. So much cool and kitchy goodness, their tag line is: A delightful disarray of found objects and clutter.
I finally got to see Stephanie's updated wood carving circus exhibit, which is now in the large windows of Flutter. Divine!
